Week 5

The author of STEAL LIKE AN ARTIST says “Don’t steal the style, steal the thinking behind the style.” Honestly the best way to do this is to do more research you find inspirational. sometime the artist him self explains his process. The difference between imitating and emulating, is that imitating is following some one and using them as an example, an example could be a child and their parents, do what dad does,  while emulating is doing exactly what they can do and try to perfect their own style or work. The author has a chart in his book to  emulate your thinker/mentor/hero’s work. I would honestly study his work and the process, and not just from him but from many, I would come up with an idea or remix, and put him or her as one of the many that inspired me. Below are some art or illustration done by David Gonzales, & Kentaro Miura; I also added a sketch of mine where I try to emulate the artist above and try to create something. I try to combine Japanese illustrat...

the author of  Steal Like an Artist  mentions to always be reading, i choose this books because they entertain me, and I find them fun and intriguing. this types of books is usually what i read i find inspiration and learn knew stuff. The stack on top are books I'm thinking of checking out, like the graphic novels they have very great art inside them, for example one of them was made by a Japanese author.  This is a book that Austin Kleon recommends reading,  and i found interest on. This is some inspiration i found for project 6. the first image was the cover for XXL magazine for 2013, shows the new wave of rappers, while the other is the cover and some of the inside pages of the KITH & TOMMY HILFIGER collaboration.

"You are, in fact, a mashup of what you choose to let in your life. You are the sum of your influences." said  Austin Kleon, the author of  Steal Like an Artist. N ow that i look in my own life, i have a lot of influences, I can starts with my friends, i have a good influences and bad influences because in life sometimes we need both. I consider rappers such as Eminem  as an influence because i can connect with his art work and life experiences. Painters like Diego Rivera help me find inspiration because i can use the Mexican culture as a source of influence. and the same goes for comic books,  specially when it comes down to spider-man, there is just something  about a Teen boy where out of no where he gets great powers, but at the same time he has to be more mature in his life, protecting everyone he cares for. Im am happy with the influences i have in my life at the ...

Week 1

Image
Picture was taken on my trip to Mexico over the summer, This is the city of Tuxtla in the state of chiapas. Well my name is Marco, originally from Chicago but lived in the area for most of my life. Usually when I do a personal project i get the inspiration out of no where, but for graphic design I usually listen to music, look at other artist or look for ads online or magazines. The hardest part of creative thinking is creating something original. Creativity in our culture is important. if not, life would be to dim.  If there was no creativity; life would be so boring, we wouldn't have the clever super bowl commercials, There wouldn't be funny poster ads like the ones for Deadpool.  I honestly don't know which project I should be exited to do. The last 2 projects seem to take more time in researching, and now would be a great time to do research.
