Week 3

                      
"You are, in fact, a mashup of what you choose to let in your life. You are the sum of your influences." said Austin Kleon, the author of Steal Like an Artist. Now that i look in my own life, i have a lot of influences, I can starts with my friends, i have a good influences and bad influences because in life sometimes we need both. I consider rappers such as Eminem as an influence because i can connect with his art work and life experiences. Painters like Diego Rivera help me find inspiration because i can use the Mexican culture as a source of influence. and the same goes for comic books,  specially when it comes down to spider-man, there is just something  about a Teen boy where out of no where he gets great powers, but at the same time he has to be more mature in his life, protecting everyone he cares for. Im am happy with the influences i have in my life at the moment, i can say some friends and family members are not the best influence, but even they can add something, sometimes we just need to take a risk.
I feel that the influence i already have is good for now, but eventually it will get bigger, ether I find new musicians of any genre, or get new people in my life, or find other artist and painters i can connect with, but eventually it will get bigger it usually just happens with out me looking for it.
Eminem is the person i admire a lot, from how he rhymes words that shouldn't be possible, or the story that he tells on his songs, but I found out that before being a rapper, he wanted to an illustrator and his favorite comic was spider man and owns a copy a copy where spiderman first appears and its worth a lot of money, he finds inspiration in other rappers and different types of music, or paintings. if you listen to some of his songs he makes clever connections to some of his inspiration

Week 12

On chapter 8 of  Steal like an artist,  Austin Kleon states that we should live our ordinary and boring life, that going out, hooking up and getting high is over rated. He also states that we should learn about how to hold and save money, and to have a day job in order to make a little money. Also to mark things out in life for example get a calendar for future events and a logbook to keep us on track on what we worked on. And lastly he says that we should marry carefully, to find someone who is willing to put up with us and hold us down. Like i said before Kleon said that we should have a routine. My routine consist of going to school and work on school work before i head to work. I usually head to work after school, but after work I tend to go to the gym for 2 hours. afterwards I go home sleep, but on my days off is where i try to do some art or my hobbies that i have. I tend to use the calendar on my phone to stay on top of thinks like appointments, events and projects. ...

Week 4

the author of  Steal Like an Artist  mentions to always be reading, i choose this books because they entertain me, and I find them fun and intriguing. this types of books is usually what i read i find inspiration and learn knew stuff. The stack on top are books I'm thinking of checking out, like the graphic novels they have very great art inside them, for example one of them was made by a Japanese author.  This is a book that Austin Kleon recommends reading,  and i found interest on. This is some inspiration i found for project 6. the first image was the cover for XXL magazine for 2013, shows the new wave of rappers, while the other is the cover and some of the inside pages of the KITH & TOMMY HILFIGER collaboration.

Week 11

On chapter 8 of Steal like an artist, Austin Kleon states that we should make friends and ignore the enemies, to keep our heads up and ignore the haters. That we should write fan letters to our heroes even if they don't reply, and to always keep the compliment of the people if we get e–mails from them, and deleting the nasty ones. On page 102, the author suggests that we follow people who are way smarter than us. Ironically I been doing that for the past couple of years. I have 2 friends who I consider successful hustlers; they both own business and seem to be doing great. One of them is Jilani, he owns a used car dealer ship and also owns a couple of houses that he uses to rent out. His favorite phrase is "  scared money makes no money." My other friend owns a video game store named WE PLAY GAMES , his name is Victor and he always tells me to never burn bridges even if we don't like them, because we never know when we might need their connections.
